Hi, I’m Kristin Evans

I didn't plan to start a practice. Someone else saw it first.

A few months ago, a friend and colleague offered me space in the wellness practice she was building. She thought I should open my own. I remember thinking she had the wrong person.

She didn't.

Once the idea was in my head I couldn't get it out, because I already knew exactly what I wanted to build. I had been watching the pieces for years. Patients sitting across from me telling me their insurance premium had doubled and their deductible was so high they still couldn't afford to use it. Visits where I knew someone needed 30 minutes and I had 15, and I'd spend the rest of the day running behind because I'd given them what they actually needed. Gender-diverse patients navigating "do we even take their insurance" before they could get to the care itself.

I wanted to practice differently. Groundwork Health is what that looks like.

My Background

I am a board-certified family nurse practitioner with more than a decade of experience in internal medicine and primary care. I have been providing gender-affirming hormone therapy for several years and am currently working toward WPATH certification.

I am a Precision Nutrition Level 1 certified coach, which means nutrition coaching at Groundwork Health is not a side offering. It is a full clinical discipline I have invested in seriously, because I believe food, movement, and medicine belong in the same conversation.

I have finished five Ironman races, including the 2023 World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. I currently compete in adventure racing. I bring that experience directly into my work with athlete clients, not as a credential to show off, but because it means I understand what it takes to fuel a hard training block, recover from a bad race, and keep showing up.

Why This, Why Now

The healthcare system is not broken because providers do not care. Most do, deeply. It is broken because the structure does not give them time.

Direct primary care removes that structure. No insurance billing. No productivity quotas. No 15-minute appointment slots that were never really 15 minutes to begin with. Just a provider and a patient with enough time to actually figure things out together.

I built Groundwork Health for patients who are done settling for less and who want a practice where they never have to edit themselves to be seen. That includes patients who have spent years navigating a healthcare system that was not built with them in mind. It includes athletes who want a provider who understands their body and their goals. It includes anyone who has ever left a doctor's appointment feeling like a task that got completed rather than a person who got cared for.

Outside the Clinic

I have lived in Chattanooga since 2014 and it is genuinely home. I grew up in Ohio, and the mountains are definitely better.

I share my life with my wife and partner of 14 years, who is a legitimate badass in her own right. She has swum the English Channel and trekked to Everest Base Camp, among other amazing feats, which means our household has a very high bar for what counts as a hard day. We have two dogs named Tilly and Gryffin and three cats named Frankie, Hairy, and DL, all of whom are convinced they are in charge and are probably right.
